House Beautiful Retreats, Inc. acknowledges the Bible, God\u2019s Word contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament, as its supreme authority and rule in matters of faith and practice, and accomplishes its purpose, mission, and business objectives in accordance with the following doctrinal beliefs, much of which can be summed up by our full agreement with the words of The Apostles Creed, The Nicene Creed, and The Athanasian Creed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. We believe that the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, though recorded by men, were supernaturally inspired and preserved by God so that all its words are the true, special revelation of God; it is therefore inerrant in the originals and authoritative in all matters. It is to be understood by all through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, its meaning discerned by the historical, grammatical, and literary use of the author\u2019s language, and ultimately by comparing Scripture with Scripture. (see \u201cWCF I: Of the Holy Scripture\u201d and its Scripture citations)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    1. We believe there is one God, the infinite, eternal and unchangeable Spirit who created and sustains all things. He exists eternally as one God in Trinity, and that Trinity in unity. There are three persons in the Godhead; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are one in essence but distinct in person and function. (see the Creeds, WSC Q.4-6 and associated Scripture citations)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. We believe that all things were created by God. The universe and everything in it was created in six days, all by His decree very good, and it is continuously sustained by God; thus it both reflects His glory and reveals His truth through general revelation on display in His created order and design. Human beings were created in the image of God. As reasoning moral agents, they are responsible under God for understanding and governing themselves and the World. (Genesis 1-3, WCF IV and Scripture citations)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        1. We believe Adam, the first man, was created in the image of God, formed by God of the dust of the ground, and given the breath of life from God. Eve, the first woman, was formed by God from Adam\u2019s rib, bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh, she was taken out of man. God made them male and female. For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh, they are no longer two but one flesh. Marriage, as sanctioned by God, joins one man and one woman, as it has been since the beginning of creation. (Genesis 1-3, Matthew 19:4-6, WCF IV and Scripture citations)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          1. We believe Adam, the first man, willfully sinned by disobeying God, bringing sin\u2019s consequences of corruption and death into the world. As a result, all persons descended from Adam are sinners from conception, which is evidenced in their willful acts of sin; and they are therefore subject to eternal punishment, under the just condemnation of a Holy God. (Genesis 3, WSC Q.12-19 and Scripture citations)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            1. We believe that Jesus Christ is our only Savior and Redeemer. He is the eternal Son of God, second person of the Trinity and thus fully God. He took to himself a true body and reasonable soul, becoming man in order to redeem us from our sins through His death on the cross and bodily resurrection three days later, at which time He ascended into heaven and still sits at the right hand of God the Father, reigning and ruling. (WSC Q.21-28 and Scripture citations)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              1. We believe that each person can be saved only through the work of Jesus Christ, through repentance of sin and by faith in Him alone as Savior. The believer is declared righteous, born again by the Holy Spirit, turned from sin, and assured of heaven. (Romans 8:28-39, WSC Q. 85-87,)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                1. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all who are born again, sanctifying and conforming them to the likeness of Jesus Christ, this process completed only in Heaven. Every believer is called to pursue a life of obedience to the Word of God. By the power of the Holy Spirit at work within, believers are called to pursue greater conformity to obedience to his commandments in the moral law. This is summed up in the Ten Commandments and further summarized by Christ in the two great commandments to love God and love your neighbor as yourself. (Heb.10:14-29, Rom. 8:29, Matt. 22:36-40, WSC Q.39-81)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  1. We believe that the return of Jesus Christ is imminent, and at a time only known to God, Christ will return bodily, raise the dead, and judge the world. Those not found in Christ will receive the verdict of guilty and thus live under the just eternal wrath of God in Hell. Believers, who are united to Christ, will be acquitted on the day of judgment and live forever perfectly blessed in the enjoyment of God, dwelling with Him forever in eternal life. (Matt. 24:30-31, 24:36-44, 25:31-46, John 5:28-29, 1 Thes. 4:13-5:10, 2 Thes. 1:5-10, Rev. 19-21, WSC Q. 37-38)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
